OrSem won’t be as fierce without the trademark flamboyant, tongue-in-cheek humor that only a Dollhouse member can personify. Dollhouse alumni Erick Habijan, Patch Buenaventura and Third Fernandez have left their own marks as past OrSem hosts, and now, their newest successor is set to become the latest addition to Dollhouse’s list of campus celebrities.
Josh Lao, in all his eccentricity, epitomizes what the Dollhouse is all about. Gay pride and fashion awareness is what makes this very ferosh character belong in the spotlight.
So how does it feel to be this year’s OrSem host from Dollhouse?
It’s both a privilege and an honor, but at the same time, there’s a lot of pressure and responsibility. I want to make my Dollhouse mentors proud. I want to make a name for myself, but I also want to uphold the good name of Dollhouse. Kailangan kabog!
What can we expect when you’re up onstage?
All of my energy—I put all of it into performing! It’s something I can do continuously without minding the tiredness. I always make it a point to make my performance funny. I find that I can reach and relate to many demographics—guys, girls, gay, straight, whoever. I’m also very visual as a host, so I use that to appeal to people.
Tell us an interesting tidbit about you.
I had a crush on a girl in prep. Maybe it was because she was pretty and she had strawberry clips in her hair, or maybe I just really liked her—but look at me now!
