A Gateway to a UAAP Experience

The life of it all

If you aren’t feeling the celebrity buzz, the party isn’t over – Upper Boxes A and B and the General Admission sections is where the real party is at. If you no longer believe in the idea of school spirit, we suggest you stand there at the height of the action for a few minutes. The raucous chanting of “Go Ateneo! One Big Fight!” fills you with a primal, savage desire to will the team to victory.

All that glitter is gold
Of course, The Blue Babble Battalion is always there to kick your energy up a notch with their hirits, antics and boundless energy. It’d do you good to learn the school cheers to join in on the fun; also know that the “Song for Mary” isn’t only sung during graduation. Like any party, you’d best bring a friend to share in the nail-biters, the fist pumps, and (since it’s bound to happen sometimes, right?) consolatory pats on the back.

While it’s easier to find seats for the higher sections, there’s a tradeoff: navigating through congested hallways before and after games, warmer temperatures, and the occasional packaging debris stuck to the soles of your shoes.

Nobody said top-flight basketball came with equally stellar reception, but whatever the denizens of the upper sections lack in star power, they undoubtedly redeem with sheer numbers – these three sections combined make up 85% of Araneta Coliseum’s seating capacity and overwhelming enthusiasm for the game.

It’s always best to arrive early to find a spot you like. Before you throw yourself into the fray, settle down and allow yourself to be humbled yet undaunted. Don’t pine for television angles; even from up there, the team’s desire to win is unmistakable. Don’t feel insignificant; you are great because you chose to be here.

Lastly and perhaps most importantly, don’t feel alone; you are standing together with a community of excellence one hundred and fifty years strong, ready to take on the next big fight on the hard court.
