TABLE TENNIS
Go for it: if the mere thought of sweating it out on the court or on the field doesn’t exactly thrill you. BS AMF student Lana Chan says that “it’s so much better if you’re taking it with friends since you get to play together. It’s also less pressure.”
Don’t bother: if you’re looking for something new, or if you don’t like routine.
TAEKWONDO
Go for it: if you’re looking for a workout along with your friends or blockmates. There’s nothing like high kicks when it comes to inducing a little bonding time.
Don’t bother: if you despise getting bruises, because you’re bound to get lots of them in Taekwondo.
WEIGHT TRAINING/PHYSICAL FITNESS
Go for it: if you’re very particular about your weight, since they monitor it and aim to bring it down throughout the semester.
Don’t bother: if you don’t like monotony. It’s basically like going to the gym.
WUSHU/TAI-CHI
Go for it: If you’re not into too much activity and looking for something de-stressing, but not to the yoga level. “It’s basically the same thing over and over again,” says Dan Liamco, a third year Management student.
Don’t bother: if you don’t like meditation. It’s actually possible to go through an entire class without talking.
YOGA
Go for it: if you’re seriously interested, and not just because of its standard appeal as one of the most popular choices. Yoga classses are infamous for being filled up by the sophomores, who get first dibs on this, leaving much fewer slots for the freshies during their enlistment.
Don’t bother: if you hate getting up early. The earliest time slot is 7 am, and there aren’t any classes that go beyond mid-morning.
