Amidst frozen yogurt chains like Yoh-gurt Froz, White Hat, and Yogurbud, Red Mango has been making a name for itself through its refreshing, tart-flavored yogurt.
Originally from South Korea, Red Mango has been serving its all-natural, authentic frozen yogurt since 2002. As a healthy alternative to ice cream, it boasts of yogurt free of any gluten, fat, artificial colors, and flavors.
Located at the 2nd floor of Eastwood Mall’s Central Park Veranda, Red Mango is also a stylish haven for people who want to relax and enjoy a break from the bustling mall. Its interior is elegantly furnished; the posh sofas and minimalist design are meant to soothe and entice customers.
Its frozen yogurt comes in two flavors: Original and Green Tea. While Original looks and tastes like plain yogurt, Green Tea is light green with a slight matcha flavor. Red Mango’s frozen yogurt is delicious because of the balanced blend of sweet and tart.
Paired with a thick, firm, and creamy texture, the sour taste from most frozen yogurts is subtler here. A small cup (P80 for original, P85 for green tea) contains about four ounces of yogurt—just enough for one person. Red Mango also offers medium (P115, P120), large (P150, P155) and family size (P220, P225), which are sizeable enough to be shared by two to four people.
Aside from the flavor and size, Red Mango also offers a selection of toppings to compliment its frozen yogurt. The selection varies from mandarin oranges, kiwis, almonds, to Cap’n Crunch cereal, so you won’t find their choices lacking when adding one topping (P20), two (P30) or three (P40).
You can’t go wrong with a combination of fresh fruits. The juiciness and innate flavor of grapes and mangoes bring out the sweet yet tangy taste of the frozen yogurt. The mangoes, in particular, are a bit sour, providing a perfect contrast to the yogurt. Kiwis and blueberries also make a tasty combination, and the rough texture of kiwis brings out the smooth creaminess of the yogurt.
If you’re looking for sweeter toppings, Fruity Pebbles makes a great pair with the frozen yogurt. The candy-like treat gives you something to chew on while the yogurt melts in your mouth.
Amidst the overwhelming selection of toppings, flavors, and sizes of frozen yogurt, Red Mango also offers waffles, smoothies, coffee, and tea.
Its Banana Almond waffle (P85) is topped with cream, powdered sugar, syrup and sprinkled with almonds. The syrup, though sweet, doesn’t overpower the tasty flavor of the waffle. The texture is soft on the inside, but deliciously crunchy on the outside. The servings are small, but just enough for two.
Overall, the prices of Red Mango’s offerings are steep, but the quality is well worth it. If you’re looking to take a relaxing break and enjoy some dessert, Red Mango will undoubtedly leave you satisfied and happy.
