Coming back for her third time as an OrSem host, Portia says, “Fortunately, they still got me. They aren’t sick of me yet!”
With her petite frame clad in a simple collared shirt and shorts, and hair tucked into a trucker’s cap, senior Portia Marie Silva exudes a relaxed confidence that stems from years of performing.
In high school, Portia would be the default favorite to host school events. In the Ateneo, Portia has hosted countless year-ender parties, fund-raisers for organizations and has been a UAAP courtside reporter for the Ateneo Blue Eagles.
She readily admits that she really likes the attention of performing. “Iba talaga kasi (It’s different) when you’re onstage; you can be a different character altogether, every time,” she says.
Ever the performer at heart, Portia peppers her speech with quips and jokes, but still manages to toe that very fine line between being amusing and annoying.
“I’m the Energizer bunny, as in tu-tu-tu-tu-tu-tu,” Portia says, making her co-hosts laugh with her as she mimics machine-gun motions.
Portia captivates the audience with her enthusiasm. Affecting others with her humor and positivity, Portia is all about the productivity, without skimping out on any of the fun.
