Who says ice cream is just for kids? At Trinoma, Five Cows show you why sundaes and sponge cakes aren’t just for the little ones.
Five Cows is a restaurant and ice cream bar at Trinoma that is rapidly gaining acclaim. With the ‘Five’ taken from the five owners who came up with such a concept, Five Cows is a restaurant that is more than welcoming—it will surely keep fans coming back.
Sweet heaven
Five Cows is home to desserts of all shapes and sizes. From the Ferrero Crunch Supreme (P155) to the highly recommended Oatmeal Carumba (P100), and Flaming Alaska (P185), people with a sweet tooth will surely be in for a delightful treat.
Oatmeal Carumba is generous scoop of vanilla ice cream mixed with roasted oatmeal. Laced with caramel syrup, this generous serving of sweetness is surely more than what it’s worth.
On the other hand, the Flaming Alaska is a sponge cake dome filled with ice cream, nuts, and bits of cookies. At P185, one can already get a sinful sampling of strawberry and chocolate ice cream hidden beneath unbelievable measures of white meringue. The presentation is also impressive—they turn the lights down low as they serve this treat whilst pouring the flaming rum over it. Heavenly is surely an understatement.
Although Five Cows brings dessert bliss to another level by coming up with delightful concoctions that are definitely original, they still serve old-time favorites such as Banana Split (P185), Strawberry Sundae (P80), and Peach Melba Split (P190).
Other selections
But then again, Five Cows is more than just desserts. It also serves appetizers, sandwiches, pasta, and main courses. Their main dishes lean more towards the healthier side as they prepare most of them grilled, with a lot of herbs and olive oil.
The Grilled Lamb Skewers (P300) is a must try. Served with mint gravy and rice or garlic pasta, it is perfect for meat-lovers looking for a healthier alternative. The size of the lamb chops speared together with buttered tomatoes, white onions, and bell peppers was fortunately able to make up for the saltiness of the lamb chops.
For pasta lovers, Five Cows also offers a wide array of pasta dishes. Their classic Carbonara (P185) is generously served with tiny specks of bacon, mushrooms and bell peppers, all sinking in cream and assorted cheeses, a break from the usual dry and sad versions of this all-time favorite pasta treat.
Five Cows definitely made an effort to put everything on its menu. Aside from their pasta and meat selections, their carte du jour also include pizza and sandwiches. Their Primavera Panini (P145), a yummy serving of grilled vegetables with gruyere (a sweet but slightly salty yellow cheese made from cow’s milk), garlic cream, and mozzarella cheese in honey-wheat bread, is a highly recommended masterpiece for the health-conscious.
The cozy feel
One of the things that set Five Cows apart from dozens of other restaurants and dessert places out there is its warm ambiance that seems to match the cool desserts that they offer. With white wooden table sets, colored pillows, incandescent lamps and candy colored glass jars, the place sets a relaxed mood that not only matches their desserts but also their customers—young at heart that feast on whatever they have to offer.
With plenty of high-chairs and toys, Five Cows seemed to have thought of everything to make their customers feel at home. The staff provides children with toys to keep them from running around while they carefully prepare each dessert masterpiece in an open counter for everyone to see.
Five thumbs up!
All in all, Five Cows is worth the trip. Though a bit costly, the desserts are in themselves a sight to behold. Who would have thought that an ice cream bar can not only sound and taste good but can look so good as well?
Five Cows is just too memorable, one must certainly come and check it out. Just a warning though: it can get addicting. Spare your wallets some mercy.
