The word summer brings to mind images of a trip to the beach. But there are other ways to spend this two-month vacation. Here’s how some Ateneans spent theirs.
“Me and my OJT-mates hanging out at a bar in Makati after the first week of working at Exportbank. Nothing but good times and great memories.” - Tim Huelva (IV BS LM)
“Nothing compares to a summer internship meeting new friends from diverse backgrounds. While others were enjoying at the beach, we were commuting and working for Total Gas from 9 to 5. It was a different type of summer experience.” - Jerome Hipolito (IV BS Mgt)
“There’s no better word that can describe this than ‘BOOM!’ It was an experience that brought me back to my beginning at the Ateneo. Go H2!” - Anthony Co (II BS ME)
“Almost immediately after my Filipino 14 final, my mom, sister and I jetted halfway around the world to fulfill a long-standing and elusive dream: to see Roger Federer at the Roland Garros tournament in Paris. Although we were only at the tournament for two days (and were greeted by rainy weather for the most part), we were still lucky enough to be in the presence of the who’s-who of world tennis — eventual finalists Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal among them. Whether it was watching Nadal (and his on-court ‘mannerisms’) at the Philippe Chatrier court, or standing next to Mario Ancic outside, or watching Lleyton Hewitt practice against a virtual unknown, it was definitely a great way to spend the all-too-little two weeks before sophomore year.” - Patricia Perez (II BS Mgt)
“I won my 3rd American Idol Trivia contest last summer so I was awarded an all-expense paid trip to watch the awesome American Idol 2008 Finale. I’m a really huge fan of the show so I stalked all of the Idols by camping outside the Nokia Theatre for three days. My obsessive fandom paid off when I woke up the day after the finale and flicked on the TV and saw that to my chagrin, the two Davids were having a press conference just a few blocks from the hotel I was staying at. Of course, I ran as fast as I could where I was able to have my photo taken with Archie and Cookie.” - Hans Pura (II AB MEco)

This segment of the Guidon magazine is quite interesting. I wish there were more interesting summer activities!
Wahahaha! Go diversity!
